Southlawn Elementary, located in 27J Schools, is currently seeking a Social Worker or School Psychologist to assist in supporting students, school administrators, teachers and families in fostering a safe school environment and addressing mental health issues that interfere with students' academic success.
This is a full-time position (1 FTE), 7:30AM-4:30PM - 4 days per week with benefits.
Responsibilities:
Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary assessment team for initial and re-eligibility evaluations for students with a disability, or those suspected of having a disability.
Participation may include, but is not limited to, reporting information on social, education, life skills and/or an emotional area.
Participate as a member of a school based problem solving team, as needed.
Assist the building IEP team to complete Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA) as needed to develop a legally defensible Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
Provide individual and/or group counseling services to students with mental health or social/emotional difficulties (generally serving students with an identified disability or those "at-risk.

Provide consultation services including support, problem solving, resources and implementation ideas to special education staff, general education staff, support staff and administrative staff for students with disabilities and/or "at-risk" students.
Provide consultation and advocacy support services, including problem solving and resources to parents of students with disabilities, and/or parents of "at-risk" students.
Assist parents in accessing school and community resources; encourage and instruct families in self-advocacy skill development.
Provide training and educational programs for district staff and parents, as directed by the Director of Special Education.
Serve as home, school, and community agency liaison as needed.
Set up student assistance programs and provide support to staff and families as needed during times of crisis.
Assist and/or interview students during a crisis to determine level of threat for self harm or harm to others.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in School Social Work from an accredited college or university is required OR
A valid Special Services License in School Psychology from the Colorado Department of Education.
Ed.
S or PhD in School Psychology is required for School Psychologist
A valid National Certificated School Psychologist
Must have, or have the ability to obtain, a current Colorado Special Services License in School Social Work or School Psychology from the Colorado Department of Education
Knowledge and basic understanding of IDEA 2004, Exceptional Children's Education Act (ECEA Colorado) 2007, and laws of Family and Child required
Knowledge of current best practices in school-based prevention and early intervention strategies for students with mental health and/or social needs
Demonstrated skills in facilitation, conflict resolution and student and adult learning
Demonstrated skills in data gathering and analysis
Evidence of organization, planning and time management skills
